Group
Therapy:
"I've
been in individual therapy or couples therapy and have made some
progress, but I'm not sure where to go from here."
Group
therapy is helpful for someone who has already begun to handle some
of his or her defensive styles. Most often, it is used as an adjunctive
treatment with on-going individual or couples work. Most therapists
request a minimum commitment of six months to a year in order to
maintain the integrity of the group's dynamics and to ensure lasting
changes.
