             My Mission:

   · Create loving, solid relationships
   · Help you gain relationship confidence
   · Improve your feeling of well being
   · Solve real-life problems
   · Strengthen your communication skills
   · Build new relationships if that is what you are seeking
   · Help you discover your strengths and learn how to manage your weaknesses
   · Think constructively

My approach is straightforward and authentic. If you need to talk, call today and tell me your story.  Let’s sort things out together.

Relationships are important and although we may think time heals, it just passes.  Sometimes couples (regardless of whether you are married, in a relationship that is very important to you, straight or gay) come into my office early as they discover they are having difficulty communicating.  Clearly, this is an advantage over a situation that has gone on for many years.  However, the fact that a couple has continued on together and is still in their relationship even if they have struggled for a lengthy period of time says they have a great amount of strength and connection.

In today's world, when we have a relationship that is enduring, finding the keys to make it last can create a lifelong partnership that will create both a friendship and a true partnership for us to learn how to live our lives in more meaningful ways.  It often means learning about ourselves and coming to understand how couples exist in the context of our fast-paced world.  I have done this a long time and love my work. Welcome to SanDiegoTherapist.com

If necessary, I also can find you referrals to one of my colleagues: Encinitas Psychotherapists, Marriage Counselors in Del Mar, Family Therapists in La Jolla, Psychiatrists in Carlsbad, Oceanside Family Therapists, or Psychologists in San Diego.

My work is characterized by empathy, respect, genuineness and a collaborative spirit. I strive to be straightforward, caring and encouraging. We all may need help at some point, often from a caring and objective third party.

Relationships, whether bound by legal documentation or simply the agreement to love one another exclusively, enrich our lives. When they stop working for us or we stop caring, pain is the result. If you are reading this, you are probably feeling scared, alone and worried. This is the right time to reach out for couples counseling or marriage counseling.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I have worked with couples, relationships and marriages since 1993. As a professional in the mental health field my experience extends back to 1979.

I provide respectful and compassionate counseling for couples that is both down-to-earth and productive. As a highly trained clinician, I use a variety of approaches, keeping the primary focus on helping you become more able to define and overcome your concerns.

My goal is to support each person in the relationship to be all he or she can be while strengthening the connection to their loved one.

-How I Work-

The first therapy session is ninety minutes long, which is enough time to get to know one another, discuss relevant concerns and develop an initial treatment plan. We discuss practical and timely action steps to ease difficulties so that healing begins immediately.

Further counseling appointments are discussed and scheduled as part of the treatment plan. Each couple is different in their needs, background, and course of treatment. In today's world we have tremendous diversity in our relationships. One couple may enter therapy as a prelude to remarriage with multiple children in each side of the family and another couple may begin treatment after their children have left for college and they are adjusting to the "empty nest syndrome". Regardless of the challenges, if you are serious about your relationship, psychotherapy can increase communication skills, strengthen your feelings of commitment and help you to understand one another with more compassion.
