Alcoholism & Drug Addiction
Recovery Services for Alcoholism & Drug Addiction

As my San Diego and North County neighbors, I can offer you a setting to take a close look at how your own or a loved one’s potential drug addiction or alcoholism may be affecting your life and that of your family. Supportive counseling for addictions can allow someone to clearly reflect on the impact the condition is having on their life and begin to make a decision to effectively treat the condition. My work providing Carlsbad couples therapy or Encinitas family therapy has helped me see over the years that working together with family members in a compassionate way can provide the family the tools necessary to begin to make decisions about how to begin to change. Each family is different, but addictions tend to have many overlapping symptoms. As a San Diego Therapist for several decades, I have worked with and helped many families as they have overcome addictions and alcoholism. Visit www.InterventionADDICTION.com to see my blog on addictive disorders.

My approach is straightforward and authentic. If you need to talk, call today and tell me your story. Let’s sort things out together. Life is important and although we may think time heals, it just passes.  Hard work heals. This is particularly true in regard to addictive disorders. As time passes, problems tend to grow worse. It is important to begin a formal strategy of treatment of some sort. Otherwise, there is almost always a gradual (sometimes not so gradual) worsening of the problems. Often we see that in families where addictive disorders are present, they discover that their ability to share even common-place emotions without stress and frustrations becomes undermined. This is natural, but increasingly dangerous for a relationship. It is very possible to change the cycle and establish new patterns of healthy communication.

If necessary, I also can find you referrals to one of my colleagues, a self-help group, or a well known treatment center: Scripps Memorial Hospital McDonald Center in La Jolla, various Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings, Family Intervention Services, Carlsbad Couples Therapists, Marriage Counselors in Del Mar, Family Therapists in La Jolla, Psychiatrists in Carlsbad, Oceanside Marriage Therapists, or San Diego Therapists are all possible referrals. I have done this a long time and love my work. I know quite a few specialists and ways to get you help if I cannot provide you the help you need. After working with my colleagues to help open Scripps Memorial Hospital McDonald Center in the mid 1980s, I went on to become their Lead Family Intervention Specialist. Over the course of several years at the treatment center and then in private practice, I helped over 500 families provide family intervention services for a loved one with an addictive disorder. Working together with Dr. Vern Johnson, the Founder of the Family Intervention Technique, I provided national level trainings for other therapists, instructing them on how to effectively use these techniques in clinical practice. Addictive disorders and their treatment has remained an important element of my private practice over the last twenty years. I have provided over 25,000 hours of face to face therapy in a career that spans thirty years

My main office is located at 141 N. Acacia in Solana Beach in a beautiful Mediterranean-style building one block from the ocean in Solana Beach. Our offices were built specifically for doing psychotherapy and marriage counseling.  Our double french doors open to a completely private fenced backyard. A beautiful waiting room and off-street parking help to make you feel cared for from the time you drive up.  I have office hours available in the evenings, afternoons, and mornings.

Begin telling me your story today.
