Since graduating from U.C.S.D., I have provided over 25,000 hours of face to face therapy in a career that spans thirty years. San Diego has grown to the second largest metropolitan area in California and is the eighth largest city in the U.S. San Diego County, with 18 incorporated cities and 62 unincorporated cities now has a total population that is estimated at 3,146,274. It is not uncommon for clients to feel as as though so much has changed...It has!
We can still find ways to feel close with one another. I have many colleagues throughout the county – Encinitas Psychologists, Carlsbad Marriage Counselors, Family Therapists in La Jolla, La Mesa Psychiatrists, Oceanside Counselors and San Diego Therapists – most saying similar things. This is a time when clients are looking to find ways to reconnect with familiar patterns. We need to find local resources that help us connect as much as possible with friends and family. Here are some suggestions:
1. Checked in with old friends to see how they are doing
2. Rebuild, create and maintain friendships in every way possible.
3. Send an email or letter to an old business friend and associate
4. Maintain face to face contact with friends & family – faces are so much better than email
5. Find local resources where you can connect with friends or neighbors
6. If someone you know is struggling, refer them to a professional.
